Aaron Metrikin, MD

I was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa where I completed my medical training at the University of Witwatersrand. I pursued my deep interest and passion for understanding and healing the mind by training in Medicine, Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis at the NYU School of Medicine. I have been in private practice on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for over 25 years. Through kind and caring conversation and exploration, I can help you to face the issues that are holding you back in life whether it's depression, anxiety, substance use, relationship difficulties or trauma. I use multiple modalities and my focus is on combining a thorough understanding of the genetic, biological, psychological and environmental aspects of human pain and suffering. I provide expert medication consultation and management where needed, with the emphasis on "less is more" and helping my patients achieve a substance free lifestyle.
